MSINGI: Your New Favorite Group Fitness Class

Ingrid Knight-Cohee: Founder of MSINGI

ATFW interviews Ingrid Knight-Cohee, a fitness industry veteran with over 25 years of experience. This experience along with her personal journey in life has led her to create a brand-new Group Fitness class, MSINGI. Ingrid is the Director of fitness classes at Fitness World and has had a significant impact on over 160 instructors and 80,000 members. She started her journey in the industry as a rhythmic gymnastics athlete and discovered her passion for group fitness classes. Ingrid believes in the importance of modifications and options in classes to make fitness instruction less intimidating, especially for Gen Z.

The video also discusses the impact of the pandemic on the fitness industry, with gyms being closed and a shift towards online platforms. Instructors and members adapted to online and outdoor classes, but challenges were faced in rehiring instructors after the shutdown. Ingrid made 150 phone calls to rehire instructors and witnessed the power of community and adaptability in continuing fitness classes.

ATFW host Krissy discusses Ingrid's groundbreaking class format called MSINGI, which is a rhythmic and dynamic fusion of movements inspired by Earth, Wind, and Fire. The goal is to make MSINGI a household name in the fitness industry, and Ingrid showcased the class format at Ideal World 2023. The video highlights the benefits and impact of fitness, especially for Gen Z, who prioritizes mental health in their fitness goals and represents the largest growing segment in the fitness industry.

Ingrid's personal fitness achievements and motivations are also discussed, emphasizing the importance of pursuing passions and setting goals. Krissy and Ingrid discuss the fulfillment of working in the fitness industry and how the numerous benefits are going to continue for the next generation.

Ingrid discusses her journey in completing her first full marathon. The journey was full of trials and took a bit longer than expected but she stayed determined and was able to complete this goal, allowing her to plan for the next event.
